Hillside Animal Clinic in Floyds Knobs, Indiana provides both small and large animal services to Southern Indiana and the Louisville Metro area. Dogs and cats are not the only patients we see here. We also treat horses, cows, llamas, alpacas, goats, sheep, rabbits, rats, and more! We have a caring, friendly staff and are committed to providing quality services for you and your pet. Here at Hillside our veterinarians offer the latest in surgery, diagnostics, and medical treatments. We find that one of the many advantages of having a multi-veterinarian practice is the interaction and consulting between doctors on complicated cases.

We offer many services here at Hillside Animal Clinic some of which include boarding, surgery, orthopedic procedures, ultrasound, radiography, and dentistry. We also offer 24 hour emergency service to our patients. The doctor on call is paged with your emergency and will make a farm call or meet you at the clinic if your pet needs to be seen. We are located at 4745 Paoli Pike in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, just 20 minutes from downtown Louisville, Kentucky.

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Allen graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary medicine after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky. He has practiced at Hillside Animal Clinic since 1996 and is one of the practice owners. Dr. Allen usually spends his days on the road visiting the many farms in our area. Dr Allen's areas of interest include equine medicine and reproduction, orthopedic procedures, alpacas, and just about any other furry friend that needs a farm call. Dr. Allen is married to Dr. Garvey and spends his free time with his family on their small farm. He is always up for a round of golf or a game of basketball.

    Dr. Tara Garvey Allen

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Garvey graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary medicine after completing her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky. She has been practicing at Hillside Animal Clinic since 1997 and is now one of the practice owners. Dr. Garvey spends her free time with her husband, Dr. Allen, their three children, and their many pets.

  • Dr. Jessica Dalton

    Dr. Jessica Dalton

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Dalton is a 2012 graduate of Auburn University, her areas of interest include small animal medicine, general surgery and orthopedic surgery. She enjoys UK basketball, traveling and long distance running in her spare time.  Dr. Dalton and her husband welcomed their first child in the spring of 2016. She has been practicing with Hillside since summer 2012.

    Dr. Savannah Speed

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Speed is a 2014 graduate of Auburn University, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky. She enjoys reading and literature, hiking with her Lab Darcy, traveling and horseback riding.  She has been practicing with Hillside since the fall of 2014.

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Lauren Elsea graduated from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Findlay with majors in Biology, Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary medicine. She also minored in Chemistry and Graphic Design. Her areas of interest include dog and small ruminant reproduction, low stress handling, nutrition and client education. In her free time she enjoys kayaking, cooking, horseback riding, home decorating and graphic design, as well as anything with her boyfriend, Stephen, and their numerous furbabies. She has been practicing with Hillside since July 2016.

  • Dr. Susan Stanton

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Stanton joined Hillside as a part-time associate in the spring of 2016. She graduated from Purdue University in 1981 with a B.S. in Animal Science and Purdue’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Her areas of interest include conditioning of the canine athlete. She currently trains and competes in agility with her Australian Shepherd, Bode, and does organized bike rides with her husband and their two children.

    Dr. Humbarger is a 2017 graduate of Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine. She joined Hillside June 2017. Her areas of interest include small animal surgery, equine medicine and wellness care. When she's not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her Dachshund, Carmen.

  • Dr. Kayla Stilger

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Stilger joined Hillside in 2017 after graduating from Purdue University. Many of you many already know her from her summers here working as a veterinary assistant and surgery technician during college. Dr. Stilger's areas of interest include wellness care, cardiology, neurology and exotics. When not at the clinic, she enjoys hiking and traveling with her dogs, who she trains in obedience, rally and agility. She also does therapy work with several of her dogs at local schools, hospitals and reading programs.

    Erin joined Hillside in 2006 as a Veterinary Assistant while in school obtaining her degree in Veterinary Technology. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2010. Erin is our head surgery technician as well as our staff manager. Her areas of interest include surgery, alternative therapies, canine conditioning and rehabilitation and client education. In her free time she trains and competes in agility with her Australian Shepherd, Sullivan and is training her other Australian Shepherd, Quinn in obedience.

    Tailor Grimshaw, RVT

    Tailor joined Hillside in 2012 shortly after obtaining her degree in Veterinary Technology. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2016. Tailor is one of our surgery technicians, primarily focusing on dental prophylaxis. Her areas of interest include canine rehabilitation/K-Laser therapy, dental care and client education. She has three dogs, a cat and several reptiles.

Katie is one of Hillsides several cross-trained employees and can often be found in the pharmacy, taking care of our hospitalized patients or seeing appointments.

    Jessie is our lead receptionist and also works in our boarding facility. She has a degree in Accounting and while she grew up on a farm with multiple animals, she currently just has two dogs, Montana and Barguest. She spends her free time with her husband and three kids and enjoys reading, essential oils and binge-watching Netflix.

They do everything from obtaining vitals, obtaining and running samples for labwork, taking radiographs, preparing vaccines, administering medications and assisting our doctors however needed.
